Oatridge Horse Trials

Running again in 2025!

We are beyond excited to be hosting the Horse Trails here again after over 15 years.

The journey to this Event has required a huge collaborative effort between the professionals at British Eventing and the SRUC staff and students. Together we have designed a cross-country track, prepared fields and woodland as well as building brand new permanent and portable cross-country fences.  It has been wonderful to work with so many sectors across the College in preparation for this weekend.  Specifically, the farm staff, who have shared their knowledge of the Oatridge grounds and spent hours preparing it.  Our equine students painted many of the cross-country jumps and surrounding fencing. The horticulture department have played a huge part in getting the fences beautifully dressed, as well as building and tidying up the stone walls around the course, including the penultimate fence.

A couple of special thanks firstly, to John White and Suzy Dunn at British Eventing Scotland, for all the advice and support.  Secondly, to all the SRUC staff involved, especially, George Baikie, the farms manager, who assisted throughout the entire planning process.  Finally, with Eventing fixtures dwindling, it’s so important to us to be able to put this event on, and we thank all the competitors, spectators, and sponsors for all your support.
